Our stay at the Phidias Hotel in the heart of old Athens was nothing short of wonderful. We initially stayed for three nights at the beginning of our trip and were so impressed that we returned for one more night before leaving Greece. The hotel’s prime location on the pedestrian street allowed for easy access to the Acropolis and various archaeological sites, with the metro station just 100 meters away for convenient city-wide travel.
The hotel itself was beautifully designed, comfortable, and impeccably clean, boasting a delightful staff in both the hotel and cafe. We particularly enjoyed the atmosphere outside the hotel, with a variety of terrific restaurants nearby and a lively street scene. From our balcony, we had the pleasure of watching visitors and residents alike enjoying life with a stunning view of the Acropolis. The sliding doors to the balcony effectively blocked any noise from the street at night, ensuring a peaceful rest.
One of the highlights of our stay at the Phidias Hotel was the excellent breakfast selection. The spread included a variety of fruits, freshly baked pastries, dairy, sweets, and savory options such as pies, vegetables, omelets, and eggs. The hotel also offered a variety of soy milk options, including chocolate, vanilla, and plain.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed, featuring complimentary bottled water, Wi-Fi access (although a bit slow), and air conditioning. The hotel staff consistently displayed friendliness and professionalism, going above and beyond to assist guests in need. In particular, two staff members, Konstadima and Miltos, were exceptionally helpful when one of us encountered pickpockets during our stay.
The Phidias Hotel’s peaceful location beside a park, only 10 minutes from the city center and Acropolis, made it a perfect base for exploring Athens.
In summary, the Phidias Hotel is an excellent budget-friendly option for travelers looking for comfortable and modern accommodations in the heart of Athens. With its central location, friendly staff, and clean and modern rooms, it’s a hotel that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Athens.
