During our recent trip to Athens, we had the pleasure of dining at Liondi Traditional Greek Restaurant. As a couple who appreciates authentic and traditional cuisine, we were excited to discover this hidden gem tucked away near the historical hill of the Acropolis.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor and furnishings perfectly complemented the cozy ambiance, making us feel right at home. Our table offered a stunning view of the Acropolis, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.
Our meal began with a few starters, including the Dolmadakia and the Saganaki Cheese. The Dolmadakia were expertly prepared with tender grape leaves, and the Saganaki Cheese was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also shared the Greek Salad, which was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The feta cheese was the perfect balance of salty and creamy, and the olives added a nice touch of brininess.
For our main courses, we opted for the recommended dishes of the day: the Grouper and the Lamb. The Grouper was expertly cooked, flaky and tender, accompanied by an array of perfectly seasoned vegetables, including potatoes, eggplant, peppers, and zucchini. The mushrooms in a homemade sauce were a delightful addition, offering an earthy richness that we both thoroughly enjoyed. Our friend’s Lamb dish was equally impressive, cooked to perfection with a delicious blend of herbs and spices.
Throughout our meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Agiorgitiko wine, produced by the Darsinos family from their own vineyards in the village of Leondio. The wine was full-bodied and complemented the food beautifully, enhancing the overall dining experience.
As if the meal itself wasn’t memorable enough, our dining experience was made even more special by the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Kakos. His friendly demeanor, extensive knowledge of the menu, and genuine passion for Greek cuisine made us feel like honored guests in his home.
To conclude our meal, we were offered a traditional Greek Mastika and a homemade cheesecake. The Mastika was a lovely digestive aid, and the cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending to our incredible meal.
In summary, our experience at Liondi Traditional Greek Restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary. From the delectable food and fine wine to the unparalleled service and cozy atmosphere, we cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you are looking for a truly authentic Greek dining experience, Liondi is not to be missed.

In the outskirts of Nemea, District of Korinthos, Peloponnese lies the small picturesque village ‘Leondio’ (Liondi), famous for its vast vineyards and the rich winemaking tradition of its people. Amidst these surroundings of unique, scenic, natural beauty, we, the Darsinos family, run and cultivate our own vineyards, with full respect to our long-lasting wine making tradition and produce one of the finest grape variety wine ‘Agiorgitiko’. Being firm believers in the idea that excellent wine can only be accompanied by excellent food, we have created Liondi Restaurant, at the foot of the historical hill of The Acropolis.
