Krasopoulio tou Kokkora is a traditional Greek taverna located in the lively neighborhood of Psirri in Athens, Greece. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with rustic decor and a cozy outdoor seating area. The menu features a variety of classic Greek dishes that are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. In this review, I will describe and recommend some of the dishes that I tried during my recent visit to Krasopoulio tou Kokkora.
To start off our meal, my companions and I ordered a variety of appetizers to share. The tzatziki was creamy and tangy, with a nice hint of garlic. The dolmades were stuffed with a flavorful mixture of rice, herbs, and spices, and were served with a side of yogurt sauce. The fried calamari was crispy and tender, and was served with a lemon wedge and a side of garlic sauce.
For our main course, we tried the grilled sea bass and the lamb chops. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, with crispy skin and tender, flaky flesh. It was served with a side of grilled vegetables and a fresh salad. The lamb chops were also cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful. They were served with a side of roasted potatoes and a mixed green salad.
Another dish we tried was the moussaka, which is a traditional Greek dish made with layers of eggplant, ground beef, and bechamel sauce. The moussaka at Krasopoulio tou Kokkora was delicious, with a creamy and savory flavor that was perfectly balanced. It was served hot out of the oven, and was accompanied by a fresh Greek salad.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist trying the baklava and the galaktoboureko. The baklava was sweet and sticky, with layers of phyllo dough, nuts, and honey syrup. The galaktoboureko was creamy and sweet, with a soft and flaky pastry. Both desserts were perfect endings to a delicious meal.
To accompany our meal, we ordered a bottle of white wine from the restaurant’s extensive wine list. The wine was a perfect match for the seafood and lamb dishes that we ordered, and we enjoyed sipping it throughout our meal. The restaurant also offers a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, including fresh juices and sodas.
Overall, I highly recommend Krasopoulio tou Kokkora to anyone looking for traditional Greek cuisine in Athens. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The dishes are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and are presented beautifully. I especially recommend the grilled sea bass, the moussaka, and the galaktoboureko. Whether you are a local or a tourist, Krasopoulio tou Kokkora is definitely worth a visit.
