My partner and I had the privilege of staying at this charming hotel in the heart of the Plaka district during our recent trip to Athens. Its strategic location made it incredibly convenient to visit all the main archaeological attractions, including the Acropolis, New Acropolis Museum, Ancient Agora, Parliament, First Olympic Stadium, Benaki Museum, and the National Garden. The hotel is just a short walk from the Monastiraki Metro Station, which has direct connections to the airport and the port of Piraeus. We also appreciated its proximity to the main shopping street, Ermou, and the lively Plaka area with its bustling taverns and bars.
Our room, an Acropolis View room on the 2nd floor, was comfortable and offered a breathtaking view of the illuminated Acropolis at night. The rooftop bar was another highlight, providing stunning views of the city while serving drinks and light meals in the evening. It would have been a bonus if it were open during the day for coffee as well.
The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious, offering a mix of eggs, bacon, toast, Greek yogurt, fruit, and more. A standout feature was the warm and helpful Eva, who checked in with guests each morning to ensure everything was satisfactory and offered valuable tips for daily excursions.
We enjoyed exploring the nearby attractions, such as the Acropolis Museum, the changing of the guard outside the Parliament building, and dining at the charming Efcharis Taverna, which offered great food at reasonable prices.
The hotel staff, particularly the receptionists, were friendly, helpful, and polite. The room itself was cozy, with a comfortable bed and efficient air-conditioning. The shower was spacious and had good water pressure, ensuring a refreshing experience after a day of sightseeing.
The hotel’s location made it easy to explore the surrounding area on foot, with key attractions like the flea market, Monastiraki Square, and Areopagus Hill just a few minutes away.
In summary, our stay at this hotel in the Plaka district was truly memorable. The unbeatable location, comfortable accommodations, and excellent service made it the ideal base for our Athens adventure. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to explore the city’s main attractions and would love to return on our next visit to Athens!
